The Carro Armato M15/42 entered production in 1943. It was based on the Carro Armato M13/40 and Carro Armato M14/41, featuring a more reliable engine for desert combat and an improved gun.
A total of 118 M14/42's were build, of which 28 were build by Germany after Italy surrendered in 1943. Germany took over the remaining Italian tanks as well.
